Vegetarian Cook Off Great Room

Project Requirements:
This project consisted of designing a “great room” space for a reality cooking show based in Chicago, IL as part of a home for the contestants of the show to stay in. While considering the location, relating the function of the space to the show theme had to be considered. 


Functional requirements include:
Kitchen:

-range or cook top as well as a wall oven

- 36” wide refrigerator

- microwave

- double primary sink

- dishwasher

- a smaller secondary sink

- prep area (36”W)

- island with seating area for 4 people
Dining area:

- table for a minimum of 6 people

- buffet, hutch or built-in, or shelf for storage 
Leisure/entertainment area:

- area for TV viewing & seating for 5 (min.)


Aesthetic Requirements:

- visual qualities of the design need to support the show brief/synopsis & design concept

- Cabinets are made with refurbished wood and all appliances are Energy Star or low flow to conserve energy.

- Along with the required areas (kitchen, dining room, & leisure area) two added spaces were required. A work space with two long tables & benches for seating were added along with a meditation area for relaxation after competition.
