Restaurant - Fusion

About the Client:

The client has hired you to verify the suitability of the site depicted in the plan provided for use as a restaurant. They have asked that you develop a preliminary design that meets the requirements listed and that includes a preliminary material palette. Based upon your findings, the client may sign a lease for the building or elect to review another local building that might better suit their needs.

Functional Requirements:
A restaurant that fuses one culinary tradition with another
Concept:
A restaurant with a menu that fuses two distinct traditions will require research and identification of those traditions. The interior atmosphere must reflect the merging of the selected traditions and cultures without the use of clichés.
Program:
-Dining seating for 80+.
-Primarily tables for four with some for 2’s and two 6’s.
-Lobby seating for 4 adjacent to 2’ x 2’ hostess stand (with coat closet.)
-A lounge near the bar with seating for 6 AND a bar with seating for 6 (min)
-Bar must include a 2’ clear drink pick-up area (no bars stools at drink pick up.)
-1 waiter/bus station (4’ x 5’) located a reasonable (far) distance from kitchen (4 lineal ft. counter min.)
-Design must meet ADA and IBC code requirements for this type of occupancy (including bathrooms.)

Concept Statement:

The concept of this restaurant is a fusion of Southern Mediterranean and European aesthetics and food. Through the use of greenery, natural daylighting, and pops of color, the space should feel classy and high-end while still feeling comfortable, airy, and homey.
